The apparatus is designed for accurate testing of the mechanical properties of seals immediately after the heat sealing operation.
It is used for testing of both laminates, films, and coated paper and carton. It can also be used for testing seals in the cold state, for testing of adhesive tapes, etc. For the mechanical actions of the apparatus, pneumatic components are used, while the control and measurement functions are accomplished by a computer (PC).
The PC is part of the supply. Operating system is MicroSoft XP Pro. The test software is DTC´s Wintack program package.
Folding and insertion of the specimen is done by an automatic device. The specimen grips are pneumatic clamps with foot pedal control.
Manual sealing and manual peeling controls also possible.
The DTC Hot Tack 52-E/201 allows the precise setting of following parameters:
The Wintack software for Hot Tack testing
is menu driven, and it is very easy to work with. When in the main menu, the
operator selects the parameters, test identifications, file names, etc.
In the test menu, there is a choice of different types of Hot Tack tests, and
routines for batch testing, testresult acceptance, etc.
After the end of a batch the operator may review the test results, edit them,
and run tables and graphic presentation of the batch. From individual tests,
Hot Tack - force vs. time or seal pressure vs. time can be displayed graphically
on the screen and copied to the printer.
The whole system is designed and built to high accuracy standards. With each individual test the computer checks also the actually achieved parameters and reports these. In the software, there are routines for check-out, calibration, a.s.o. which enables the owner to maintain the system.
